Sitagliptin + Metformin Hydrochloride is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise for improving glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly when treatment with both sitagliptin and metformin is appropriate.
It should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis, as it would not be effective in these conditions. It has not been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis, and the risk of pancreatitis in these patients is unknown.

Sliptin-M 1000 ER Tablet combines two antihyperglycemic agents with complementary mechanisms. Sitagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, works by prolonging the activity of incretin hormones like GLP-1 and GIP, which increase insulin secretion and reduce glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin, a biguanide, lowers blood glucose by reducing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal glucose absorption, and increasing peripheral glucose uptake.
Common side effects include diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infections, headache, hypoglycemia (in combination with insulin or sulfonylurea), and nasopharyngitis. Gastrointestinal effects such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort are also common with metformin initiation.
Store below 25°C, in a dry place, away from light, and out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date. To be dispensed only on a prescription from a registered physician.
